Recovering from lip injury: the long road back

In November 2012 I had surgery on my upper lip to remove potentially precancerous lesions. This was the start of a two year process of returning to professional playing involving many ups and downs, contact with many brass musicians who had had injuries, and eventually rediscovering the joy of horn playing. This presentation will cover my journey back with resources and advice for injured players and a discussion of injury prevention.
