Contributing Artist Rules and Regulations:

All Contributing Artists

  • Contributing Artists must be registered for IHS LA 2015 by May 1, 2015.

  • Contributing Artists are expected to pay all costs associated with the IHS LA 2015 conference (i.e. registration fee, travel expenses, room and board, etc.).

  • Joint lecturers, performing ensembles, and/or anyone submitting a proposal as a group should designate one person to be the main contact for the group. The main contact is the person that should complete this form and include his/her contact information.

  • Notification of chosen IHS LA 2015 Contributing Artists will be February 15, 2015. This notification will also include an assigned performance/lecture time and date. All up-to-date bios, head shots, and any additional information needed for the program from chosen Contributing Artists will be due April 15, 2015.

  • The IHS LA 2015 Contributing Artist Committee has the right to cancel a Contributing Artist at no cost to the IHS LA 2015 Symposium if the Contributing Artist fails to abide by all Contributing Artist Rules and Regulations.

Performing Contributing Artists

  • IHS LA 2015 does not provide any other musicians to accompany/perform with Performing Artists other than a pianist. In order to perform with any other instrumentation than a pianist, it will be the responsibility of the Performing Artist to contact, pay, and coordinate rehearsal time/space with the additional performers. A list of local Los Angeles players will be provided upon request.

  • It is the responsibility of the Performing Artist to send the music to the accompanist by June 1, 2015.

  • Performing Artists will be assigned one (1) rehearsal with their accompanist prior to the concert. The duration of this rehearsal will be determined by the IHS LA 2015 Contributing Artist Committee based on the repertoire. If additional rehearsal time with the accompanist is requested by the Performing Artist, it will be up to that Artist to pay for this additional time. If the Performing Artist fails to attend the initial assigned rehearsal time, it is up to the Performing Artist to schedule and pay for a new time.

  • Performing Artists must make sure that all repertoire does not exceed the allotted time requested in his/her submitted proposal. If the duration of repertoire is too long, the IHS LA 2015 Committee will cut the repertoire.

  • University/School Ensembles should apply to perform at IHS LA 2015 through the below Contributing Artist Form. Please make sure to send a group bio rather than individual bios and list ALL members of the ensemble including the names of the conductor/instructor(s). There is no funding from IHS LA 2015 for University/School Ensembles; however, there is a student discount for registration. It is recommended that Universities/Schools planning to attend speak with their institution about possible funding. All students performing will need to be registered as a participant for IHS LA 2015.

Lecturing Contributing Artists

  • Computers are not provided for Lecturing Artists by IHS LA 2015 or The Colburn School.
  • It is the responsibility of the Lecturing Artist to check his/her equipment with what is provided within the space at The Colburn School prior to his/her event. There is an AV staff on-site at Colburn if additional help is needed. It is recommended that Lecturing Artists bring any and all cables/adapters needed.
